Portable mercury analyser
The Portable Mercury Analyser is used for analysing mercury in crude oil and petroleum products, as well as measuring the level of mercury in various materials.
The concentration of mercury in crude oil and petroleum products can vary widely, ranging from less than 0.1 ppm to tens of ppm. The measurement of mercury in crude oil and petroleum products above 5 ppb is covered under the ASTM D7622-10 (2015) standard. The standard for total mercury present in materials is determined by the direct cold vapor atomic absorption method using the ‘Zeeman background correction’ method and SN/T 4429.2-201 (2015), which specifies the determination of total mercury in crude oil using cold atomic absorption spectroscopy with Zeeman correction.
Mercury measurement method
The basis of the measurement work is based on the reduction of Hg(II) to the atomic state through thermal decomposition (atomic absorption method using a furnace). Mercury-containing compounds and their transfer to the analysis tube through air flow. Mercury concentration is measured by the amount of resonance radiation absorbed by mercury atoms in the wavelength region of 254 nm. The detection limit of the device is from ppb to ppm of mercury in different samples.
